Christ vs Krishna Album Release Party – Ten/D
Toronto’s CHRIST VS KRISHNA play album launch show
Toronto rock outfit CHRIST VS KRISHNA will launch their vintage brit-pop/new wave flavored debut album “Sidewalk Astronomy” on March 2nd at The Velvet Underground, Toronto. The special LP release show will see Christ Vs Krishna headline, with support from Most People, Drugs In Japan and Jay Sad.
Fronted by Pank Bagga, Christ Vs Krishna is a four-piece influenced by the sounds of The Ramones, The Cure, Joy Division, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Michael Jackson and Bollywood. Bagga writes songs that focus on hooks as much as ambience; chord progressions as much as rhythm; and desire as much as the desire to just have fun.
The band’s 2009 eponymous debut EP was produced by Dean Marino and Jay Sad of Chemical Sound (the producers behind Tokyo Police Club’s Juno-nominated “Elephant Shell”, and many other leading Canadian rock/pop acts, such as The Born Ruffians).
For their debut album “Sidewalk Astronomy”, the band once again enlisted Chemical Sound for production and recording duties. The album was self-released digitally and on CD in the US and Canada on January 1, 2012. Their first single from the album is “Diamonds Die”; a 2-minute guitar pop track that is equal parts The Strokes and vintage The Cure.
A CD copy of the album and one drink is included in the entry price of $8, so come down and dance the night away with your new favorite band.
